2016 Sinulog Grand Parade: ONE BEAT, ONE DANCE, ONE VISION
January 17, 2016 marks another memorable day for the Cebuanos. A day filled with food, people, dances and most importantly with faith. One of the main highlights of the Sinulog festival is the Sinulog Grand Parade, in which participants from different towns and cities of Cebu, and other places across the Philippines gather to showcase their offer and thanksgiving to Snr. Sto. Niño through dance.
The festival is characterized by a very long parade with many groups of persons dressed in colourful costumes and dancing gracefully to the rythm of the drums: all the time moving two steps forward followed by one step backward. The streets are generally lined with vendors and pedestrians all wanting to witness the street-dancing. The dance is classified into Sinulog-based and Free-Interpretation. There is also a Float category, Puppeteer, and Higante category in which most of the viewers truly enjoyed.
People across the nation flies to the Queen City of the South: Cebu just to be part of this vibrant festival in celebration and thanksgiving to Snr. Sto.Niño. During the day eye catching parades filled the streets of the city with a lot of energetic and happy people watching the dances while shouting their hearts out, Viva Sr.Sto Niño! The Cebuano way of giving thanks to the Holy Child of Jesus, giving the true essense of the celebration all about being grateful.
During the festival the best of Cebuano food was also served, barbecues and lechons we're brought to the table and enjoyed by the people that we're part of the celebration.
The Sinulog Festival is all about being grateful to the blessings that was given while providing a memorable experience not just to the Cebuanos but also to the different kinds of people celebrating the most awaited event of the year in Cebu.
