Pasko sa Sugbo: The Spirit of Cebuanos
It’s Christmas all over the world! Once again, the iconic Fuente Osmeña Circle which is considered as the Heart of Cebu illuminated its Tree of Hope which symbolizes hope, unity, peace and charity among Cebuano’s, despite with all the calamities that we’ve been through over the years.
“Pasko sa Sugbo”, is a month – long celebration and it becomes a tourist attraction to both foreign and local tourists. The annual event has become a tradition of the M. Lhuillier Group of Companies in cooperation with the Cebu City Government since the year 2000.
The Giant Christmas Tree stands 125 feet tall, with 25, 000 blinking lights, 500 star lanterns with poinsettias, and hundreds of stars and diamond ornaments. A Sto. Niño image stands on two sides of the Giant trees foundation and a Holy Child Jesus on top, bringing a warmth yuletide season experience.
It stands prominently inside the famous rotunda and will kept lit until the Sinulog celebration in January.
There will be nightly presentations for the whole month which is open to the public for free and will start at 6 o’clock in the evening onwards featuring and showcasing the local talents from the city’s colleges and universities, institutions and civic organizations.
Nothing beats celebrating Christmas, truly Cebu – Style! Proudly Cebuano!
